AlgevitA stomatologic material arresting capillary hemorrhage |
![]() |
- alginic acid forming a gel with blood;
- potassium alginate and ascorbic acid accelerating the formation of clots of blood;
- an antiseptic (iodoform 0.01%).
The ALGAEVIT material is not toxic; it is compatible both with antibiotics and with antiseptics.
PURPOSE
The ALGAEVIT material is used as a haemostatic means when removing dental calculi, performing the curretage of the parodontal pockets, gingivoectomy, levelling the comb-shaped alveolar processes, treating the dental small cavities and after removing the casts.
MODE OF USE
The ALGAEVIT preparation is used by way of pulverization or tamponing. If the hemorrhage is weak, the wound is to be treated with a tampon of a sterile hygroscopic gauze, and a thin layer of this preparation should be pulverized onto it. If the hemorrhage is profuse, it is necessary to wait until a sufficient amount of blood has been discharged and to remove its excess with a tampon of a sterile hygroscopic gauze. If there is no blood, press slightly the area to be treated until the surface turns palish, after which pulverize the surface with the preparation. The pulverization process being over, make sure that the entire surface and the wound edges are completely coated with a thin layer of the preparation. Before pulverizing this preparation, the tamponment is necessary to ensure a direct contact between the capillaries and arterioles, on one hand, and the ALGAEVIT preparation, on the other hand.
